Now that the Release Candidate of the soon-to-be-released GNOME 3.22 desktop environment is out, it's time to take a look at some more features that are coming to it this fall.

In this article, we'll try to tell you about some of the improvements implemented in the GNOME Boxes application, which is an open-source front-end for the popular QEMU virtualization solution for numerous types of hardware. GNOME Boxes 3.22 RC (technical version number is 3.21.92) is now available for early adopters, and it's being distributed as part of GNOME 3.22 Release Candidate.

As usual, we managed to get our hands on the internal changelog to inform you about the fact that GNOME Boxes 3.22 will enable USB redirection for all virtual machines that run in the background, update the configuration of virtual machines only when the app is started, and improve the capitalization and placement of "Keyboard Shortcuts" in the global menu.

Concurrent notifications are now limited to 5

The final release of GNOME Boxes 3.22, which will become generally available on September 21, 2016, along with the GNOME 3.22 desktop environment, also brings more stricter validation of SPICE URLs, removes support for unnecessary smartcard hacks and USB redirection for versions of QEMU smaller than 1.3, as well as those irrelevant checks made by the guest operating system for QXL support.

Moreover, concurrent notifications will now be limited to five (5), the internal virtual machine checking mechanism received various performance improvements, URLs will now be used by default in strings instead of URIs, and users will be informed if the SPICE agent is not installed on the guest machine. Numerous language translations have been updated as well, and you can download the Release Candidate of GNOME Boxes 3.22 right now via our website.
