They came much faster than we expected, and it looks like more features of the upcoming GNOME 3.26 desktop environment for GNU/Linux distribution have been revealed.

We reported last week on the first GNOME 3.26 features, including RDP support in GNOME Boxes, photo importing from devices in GNOME Photos, new sharing framework, new Usage app, updated Display settings, debugging support in GNOME Builder, as well as an all-new Passwords and Keys application to replace Seahorse.

The list continues today with the work done by Philip Chimento to improve the JavaScript platform, which affects numerous components, including GJS, GNOME Shell, GNOME Documents, GNOME Maps, and Polari; and recurrent events will land in GNOME Calendar thanks to developer Georges Neto.

Todoist integration, quarter tiling feature in Mutter

The GNOME Project also plans to integrate the very popular Todoist online task management app and to-do list in the GNOME Online Accounts, GNOME Todo, and GNOME Recipes components, work that will be accomplished by developers Matthias Clasen, DebarshiRay, and Georges Neto.

They'll also try to complete the implementation of the new GNOME Control Center design thanks to the hard work of Bastien Nocera, Georges Neto, and Felipe Borges, as well as to land the quarter tiling feature in the Mutter window manager, work that will be done by developers Florian Muellner and Georges Neto.

We believe that the list of new features coming to the GNOME 3.26 desktop environment is now more complete, and we can't wait to take it for a test drive when it lands later this year on September 13. Until then, GNOME 3.25.1, the first milestone in the development cycle of GNOME 3.26, should arrive later today.

Again, you'll be the first to know when more features of GNOME 3.26 are unveiled as the development of the upcoming desktop environment advances. Many of its components will probably receive various improvements, as well as new features and we can't wait to discover them in the months to come.
