Jake Gyllenhaal stopped by Good Morning America on ABC the other day to talk about his latest film, “Southpaw,” and the strangest thing happened when they returned from break: Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” was playing in the background.

If you didn’t know, Jake and Taylor dated for a few months in 2011 and broke it off on less than amicable terms. Rumor has it that he was the subject of a few revenge songs as well, though Taylor never admitted to dissing her exes on her music.

GMA and a poor choice of a song

You can see GMA’s “slip-up” or “diss” or whatever you consider it, in the video below. The show came from break with host Robin Roberts thanking Jake for being on the show and praising his performance in the movie, which she’d seen at the weekend.

The music in the background is Taylor’s most recent hit song, which, as it happens, is about former friends who have a falling out and now there’s “bad blood” between them. It is believed it was written about Katy Perry, with whom Taylor was close once but is not anymore.

However, considering that Jake reportedly broke her heart by dumping her over the phone, the song could also serve as a revenge song for him.

So either someone from Good Morning America knew all this and decided to have some fun at Jake’s expense, as many commenters online are convinced, or this was truly the most unfortunate coincidence possible.

Jake didn’t notice

Similarly, many commenters believe that Jake’s awkward / embarrassed smile when the camera focuses on him is in response to hearing the song playing in the background.

It’s just as likely, though, that he was simply out of his element because of Robin’s warm praise of his performance and his impressive physical transformation. Fans know that, while he’s very candid about his work, he is still very uncomfortable whenever he’s showered with praise like this.

Jake, for one, insists that he didn’t even notice the song that was playing in the background. “I'm always some place to do my job. My job is the most important,” he tells Entertainment Tonight in a statement. “I'm not really listening to background anything.”

So, the question is: do you believe him? Check out the video below and drop me a line with your thoughts on it in the comments.
