Bottled water comes with its pros and cons, just like most products these days, it has been said. One of the things that work against bottled water is that the material used to make just one recipient can take up to 1,000 years to biodegrade, while also leaking toxic additives into the soil. Give water, on the other hand, does neither of the above. Moreover, if we’re also to consider that it helps charities, it can be considered the perfect alternative on the go.

Give bottled water – which comes with the motto “Drink Give. Do Good.” – comes to place itself halfway between being commercially viable and environmentally aware, while also lending a helping hand to several good causes. The idea behind it is that, if we’re to drink bottled water no matter what, we might as well do a good deed and take care of our planet the best way we can.

“Give is more than a product – it’s a movement designed to bridge the for-profit and non-profit worlds, sustainably and transparently. Our goal is to turn consumers into philanthropists without changing anything in their daily lives. Through a simple, everyday purchase, you can make a difference in your local community.” a post on the official Give webpage reads. The philanthropy aspect of buying bottled water kicks in when making a purchase and choosing one of the four variants available.

Depending on which one the consumer chooses, 10 cents of the $1 they pay for the water goes to a certain charity organization in their community. The Give Hope water (with pink label) awards part of the proceeds to a charity for women with breast cancer, Give Strength (orange) to fight muscular disorders, Give Love (green) to the environment, and Give Life (blue) to children in need. And this is just one of the many steps undertaken by Give to make sure it establishes itself as a water with attitude.

The Give bottles are entirely biodegradable and the journey they make from where the water is bottled to the supermarket is conceived in such a way as to have a minimum carbon footprint. This is possible by having the bottle bottled regionally and then distributed to stores in the area, instead of having one large center from where it is sent out in the rest of the territories. Give is now available at Whole Foods and other health-food stores, Big Y, Price Chopper, Food Emporium, Scooter’s Coffeehouse, and others. For more on this special initiative, please see here.
