Chinese company Gionee is likely to introduce its new flagship smartphone, the S8, by the end of the month. Gionee S8 was officially unveiled about three weeks ago at Mobile World Congress, and the Chinese company promised to make it available sometime in March.

According to Gionee, the S8 should be available for purchase in China for around €450 outright, but if you want to order one from another country, you might have to pay much more.

There’s no telling when exactly the Gionee S8 will be launched on the market, but since it has already been listed at TENAA, the Chinese regulatory commission, we expect it to hit shelves in the next few weeks.

As for specs, Gionee S8 does look like a powerful smartphone, but it’s not above other flagships recently unveiled. Even though the handset will sport a 5.5-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display, it will not support Quad HD resolution. Instead, the S8 will come with a full HD (1080p) resolution screen.

On the inside, Gionee S8 packs a powerful MediaTek Helio P10 processor, coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory. There’s no mention of microSD card slot, so we don’t know whether or not Gionee will include this feature inside the S8.

At the back, the smartphone features an impressive 16-megapixel photo snapper, whereas in the front there should be a no-less-impressive 8-megapixel camera for state-of-the-art selfies and video calls.

Gionee S8 is expected to ship with Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system right out of the box, along with Amigo 3.2 UI on top of it. Also, build 4.0 is likely to arrive in June.

When it comes to connectivity, the S8 is said to offer TD-LTE support, as well as dual-SIM, WCDMA, CDMA2000, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS with AGPS. Also, the flagship will be powered by a 3,000 mAh battery, which hasn’t been rated by the manufacturer yet.
