A few hours ago, the GIMP development team released a new development version towards GIMP 2.10, the next major update of the popular free and open-source image manipulation software coming later in the year.

GIMP 2.9.4 is here approximately eight months since the previous development snapshot, GIMP 2.9.2, bringing a huge number of changes, including improvements to existing components, fixes for some of the most annoying issues reported by users, as well as many new features.

GIMP 2.10 gets closers and closer

Looking at the new features and improvements introduced in today's GIMP 2.9.4 development release, we can honestly say that GIMP 2.10 will be the best release ever of the open-source and cross-platform image editor software for GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows operating systems.

There are tons of changes in many areas, including color management, the GUI (Graphical User Interface), most of the Tools (Fuzzy Select, Align, Bucket Fill, Paths, Posterize, Foreground Select, Cage Transform, Unified Transform, Text, Desaturate, MyPaint, Ink, and Smudge), as well as many of the plug-ins and GEGL filters.
