The promotion will only last for another day

Spec Ops: The Line, a third-person shooter developed by Yager and published by 2K Games, is now available on Steam for Linux with a huge 80% discount.

Spec Ops: The Line was released on Linux a while back, so it's not exactly novelty that the game is available for the open source platform. On the other hand, a 80% discount for such a great game, that has been very well received by the community, makes it a steal.

It's also worth pointing out that the title is not a native port. Instead, it's using a wrapper (think like Wine) called eON from Virtual Programming.

It's same technology used by The Witcher 2, and even if it was really bad when it was first released, it got a lot better. The guys from Virtual Programming have made a lot of improvements to the wrapper, so it now has a much smaller impact on the hardware. That means it won't probably run as well as a native port, but it will be close.

"A mysterious radio signal is picked-up from Dubai, and a Delta Recon Team is sent to infiltrate the city. Their mission is simple: Locate survivors and radio for Evac. What they find is a city in the grip of war. To save Dubai, they’ll have to find the man at the heart of its madness—Col. John Konrad," reads the Steam synopsis.

The promotion is set to expire in a little over a day, so you'd better hurry up.
