One year ago, before he married Amal Alamuddin, now Clooney, rumor had it that Hollywood’s hottest bachelor, George Clooney, was considering a career in politics. He had in Amal, an international rights attorney, the best ally (and ace up the sleeve) in making said political aspirations come true.

Today, Clooney’s budding political career is reportedly dead in the water, his acting career took a massive hit with the flop of “Tomorrowland” and his public imagine isn’t doing that well either. He’s holding Amal responsible for all this, or as the National Enquirer calls it in its latest print issue, “the Amal experiment.” Quotes via CB.

Marriage didn’t help him in his career, as he had hoped

The tabloids had George marry every time he switched girlfriends, even though he always took great pains to keep the relationships out of the public eye. Things with Amal were different from the start, in that he had no trouble parading her for the paparazzi after the first dates.

The wedding in Italy was a genuine media spectacle: even if he didn’t actually invite the press inside the ceremony, having someone who claims is so private like George do a full press tour before and after, and then release exclusive photos to the glossies, was the equivalent of a reality star doing a “wedding special” for TV.

The Enquirer draws from that in saying that Clooney bet strong on that his marriage to Amal, his equal in so many ways, would help him with his political aspirations and even his acting career.

It hasn’t, so far.

“George has had enough,” says a spy. “The Amal Experiment has backfired badly and he’s looking for a way out. George thought that Amal would help him fulfill his dream of running for office and, maybe one day, becoming president.”

Marriage ruined George’s box office appeal

In recent months, Amal has turned into a true fashion “it girl,” with her red carpet outfits discussed in details by fashion publications and celebrity bloggers. This has cheapened her worth as an attorney and, as such, damped his chances as a politician, Clooney allegedly believes.

Moreover, he even blames her for his apparent lack of box office appeal, because his female fans are no longer flocking to see his movies, knowing that he’s a married man.

In short, the tab claims that George is blaming Amal for everything not going as he thought it would in his life. It even hilariously says that he had hoped they would become as famous and loved as Bill and Hillary Clinton, but they ended up instead more like Kanye West and Kim Kardashian.

His escape plan is to move with Amal in their new home, “carry her over the threshold” and then leave her there, as he gets back to business.
