Until Dawn and Disney Infinity also perform well

Gears of War: Ultimate, the video game created by The Coalition and published by Microsoft for the Xbox One, is the number one title when it comes to sales in the United Kingdom during its launch week, a solid performance for a remake, especially given the competition that it is facing.

The game is popular because it offers a point of entry for one of the most popular franchises in gaming and because gamers who pick it up will be able to get access to the rest of the titles in the same universe when the console receives backwards compatibility in November of this year.

The Coalition is also working on Gears of War 4, which will be launched on the Xbox One next year.

Until Dawn, another platform exclusive, is in second place and offers gamers a chance to experience a horror story that benefits from solid acting and some great moments, although it fails to offer anything truly innovative for the genre.

According to UKIE, for the week that ended on August 29, the final place on the podium is occupied by Disney Infinity 3.0,  which introduces a range of new mechanics to the video game and gives players a chance to play with a lot of characters taken from the Star Wars universe.

The best of the rest

The final new entry of the week is Madden NFL 16, the American football simulation created by EA Sports, which has managed to reach fourth place during its launch week, showing the popularity that the sport is gaining outside of the United States.

Former number one LEGO Jurassic World from TT Games and Warner Bros. is now in fifth place and will probably be unable to return to the top.

Grand Theft Auto V, the open-world experience from Rockstar, continues to sell well and stays in sixth, followed by the Definitive Edition of Dishonored, which brings the game and all the associated DLC to the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4.

The PlayStation edition of Minecraft is in eighth place and is followed by the Warner Bros. published Batman: Arkham Knight.

The United Kingdom top ten is closed down by the Xbox edition of Minecraft, which is continuing to get new content from Mojang and 4J Studios.
