The upcoming Gears of War Ultimate edition is coming next month to PC and Xbox One. While developer The Coalition has talked about the console and PC versions in depth, it has confirmed that PC fans shouldn't worry as their edition comes with many great features, such as 4K resolution and unlocked framerate support.

Gears of War Ultimate edition takes the very first entry in the third-person shooter series and not only remasters it with improved visuals, faster framerate, or higher-resolution textures, but also makes many tweaks in terms of gameplay and even adds more depth to the cinematics, as demonstrated last week by developer The Coalition.

The game is going to arrive on the Xbox One but also on PC, for computers that have the new Windows 10 operating system installed.

Gears of War Ultimate on PC isn't a port of the Xbox One edition

Developer The Coalition shared last week, via DualShockers, that the PC version of Gears of War Ultimate would not be a simple port of the Xbox One version. Instead, the team worked hard to build the title from the ground up for computers.

Studio head Rod Fergusson mentioned that, back in 2007 when the PC version of the first Gears of War appeared, the team straight up ported the Xbox 360 edition. This time around, however, many features will be possible on PC, from 4K resolution support, complete with 4K textures, to an unlocked framerate and many other things.

Fergusson says that, while the Xbox One version of Gears of War Ultimate will impress console owners, the PC version will be the most impressive iteration of the project.

Both editions are set to arrive on August 25 all around the world. As of yet, the Gears of War 4 project has only been confirmed for the Xbox One platform, so it's unclear if PC users will also get to enjoy the title on their computers.
