Video game developer The Coalition and publisher Microsoft are getting the fan base of the Gears of War: Ultimate Edition ready for the launch of the new, re-imagined title with a recreated version of the classic Mad World trailer that signaled the arrival of the original release.

The two companies state, "Paying tribute to the original, the video opens with CG footage from the first Gears and then transitions into in-game footage from Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, which has been completely remastered in 1080p and modernized with 60fps multiplayer."

Gears of War: Ultimate Edition is designed to offer an improved version of both graphics and gameplay, allowing fans to re-live the classic moments on a new piece of hardware.

The biggest surprise for gamers is the fact that, if they get the new game, they will be able to also play the rest of the Xbox 360 releases using the coming backwards compatibility feature that will be introduced before the end of the year.

Gears of War: Ultimate Edition will be out on August 25 only on the Xbox One and gamers can now pre-download the experience to play it as soon as it is released.

Gears of War 4 is also in development at The Coalition

The Ultimate Edition is very important because it can serve as a gateway to the franchise for those who have not played it before while also giving already established fans a way to experience the classic stories.

Microsoft has assured gamers that the new Gears of War release does not have the problems that Halo: The Master Chief Collection had in late 2014.

The Coalition is at the moment exploring the gameplay of the franchise and exploring which are the best mechanics to introduce in a new Gears of War 4, which is supposed to focus on new characters and to bring back the focus on the horror element of the series.

The studio has not yet offered a lot of details about the story that it plans to tell and how it will explain the absence of Marcus Fenix.

Gears of War 4 will be out on the Xbox One in 2016.
