Galaxy S8 and S8+ smartphones on T-Mobile and Verizon have started receiving an update which brings support for Android Pay mobile payment platform. The update started rolling out to users and provides some bug fixes, as well as improvements in several areas.

Galaxy S8 and S8+ smartphones on T-Mobile and Verizon have started receiving an update which brings Android Pay for users to conduct easy and fast, as well as secure payments. The mobile payment platform competes against Samsung Pay, but Galaxy S8 and S8+ users will be able to choose the option that they wish, according to a report.

Android Pay lets users add their credit, debit, gift and loyalty cards for payments in physical and online stores, as well as inside apps that support it. The same is available on Samsung Pay, although it’s not as widespread as Google’s mobile payment platform.

The Galaxy S8 on Verizon also received minor Bixby enhancements

The Galaxy S8 and S8+ on another US carrier’s network, Verizon, received minor Bixby improvements. The phones got icons for reminders and Bixby Vision at the top of the right corner of the screen, allowing users to access them.

Sadly, it seems that Bixby Voice wasn’t included in the update, which means that US consumers still can’t make use of voice commands in Samsung’s virtual assistant. Verizon also included a number of bug fixes that would prevent Samsung Notes from crashing. This means that the phone would experience fewer disconnections when paired with the Gear S3.

In addition, the Visual Voicemail application has been updated to provide normal playback when the smartphone is moved closer to the ear. Some improvements to Wi-Fi calling have been provided as well. Later this month, Samsung will also launch the Galaxy S8 Active on AT&T, the rugged version of the Korean company’s standard Galaxy S8 flagship. The phone will arrive with Android Nougat out of the box and a bigger battery.
