14 DAY TRIAL // Last year’s Galaxy S7 flagship has become the most used Samsung smartphone in the world as of April 2017, according to a study conducted by ScientiaMobile. The report reveals that Samsung’s Galaxy S7 generated more mobile browsing than any other Samsung smartphone in the world.
Just a month earlier, Kantar World Panel revealed that the most used Samsung smartphone in the US was the Galaxy S5, but it seems that worldwide, the Galaxy S7 holds the highest user base among all Samsung smartphones.
The study also shows that it took 579 days for the Galaxy S5 to peak in popularity and reach a share of 5.5% in November 2015, while the Galaxy S6 reached its maximum user base in June 2016 at 3.1%, 428 days after the smartphone was released.
The Galaxy S7 surpassed the Galaxy S5 and S6
The Galaxy S7 managed to grow in popularity over the 400 days since its release and is already used by more people than the Galaxy S5 and S6. Samsung managed to sell 55 million Galaxy S7 and S7 edge smartphones by the end of Q1 2017.
The report doesn’t include information on the Galaxy S8, seeing how the smartphone was only recently launched on the market. But Samsung’s latest flagship has the potential to exponentially grow its user base, as some Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S6 owners might be looking to upgrade.
Samsung did say that pre-orders for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ surpassed those of previous company flagships, managing to set new records in Korea and recording encouraging levels in the US.
Samsung does expect its latest flagship to outsell its previous smartphones and become the most used Samsung device, but at least one year will pass until that happens. Until then, Samsung is offering various promotions for the purchase of the Galaxy S8, thus attracting more and more customers. With the launch of the exciting Galaxy Note 8 set later this year, 2017 could be a very successful year for the South Korean smartphone maker.
