Samsung is expected to unveil its next flagship, the Galaxy Note 7, on August 2, and rumors on the upcoming smartphone have been leaking for some time now. The latest shows that a Note 7 variant has recently been benchmarked, and what is particularly interesting about it is the fact that it runs Android Marshmallow 6.1 and has 4GB of RAM.

Yesterday, we reported on a Galaxy Note 7 variant that went through AnTuTu benchmark tests and had 4GB of RAM. It carried the code name SM-N930V and had 4GB of RAM. The latest benchmarked variant is now dubbed SM-N935F and provides the same RAM capacity, but runs a particularly interesting Android version.

The smartphone spotted on Primate Labs runs Android Marshmallow 6.1, which is quite intriguing, considering that the latest Android OS variant is 6.0.1. It's also worth knowing that Google is expected to release the upcoming Android Nougat, which was already officially confirmed as 7.0. It’s highly unlikely that Google would release another major update to Marshmallow, so it’s quite unclear what Android 6.1 actually represents.

Moving on to RAM capacity, many previous leaks on the Galaxy Note 7 pointed in the direction of 6GB of RAM on the upcoming smartphone, and it makes sense, since Samsung will be upping the performance on next year’s Galaxy S8 as well. The high RAM capacity will be one of the major selling points for the Note 7, and that only means that Samsung might be testing a lite variant of the smartphone.

The post also shows that the smartphone will be running Exynos 8893, which is in line with previous rumors. The Note 7 is also expected to come with an iris scanner and a redesigned S Pen Stylus.

Samsung might be testing different variants of the smartphone, but there’s also a slight chance that it will release a lite version of the Note 7. Either way, rumors will be finally put to rest on August 2, during the unveiling event.
