Samsung has been busy with conducting the recall procedure all over the world, as the company intends to replace 2.5 million Galaxy Note 7 smartphones due to faulty batteries. Users have the option to replace their Note 7 units with safe ones or get a full refund.

Samsung has now launched a new webpage that allows users to check if their Galaxy Note 7 devices need to be exchanged. The webpage displays information that shows if the Galaxy Note 7 device is on the list of affected units.

Samsung does intend to recall all Note 7 units sold outside China and it seems that the webpage could just be another confirmation for users that they need to return their devices.

Users will have to input their device's IMEI in order to see if it's on the list of affected units. The IMEI can be found on the back of the device or users can enter *#06# in the dialer and they will get the IMEI number on the screen.

Users can also check if replaced Galaxy Note 7 units are safe

Another way to find the IMEI number is to access the Settings menu, tap on About Device, then Status Menu and find the IMEI tab. These instructions are also made available on the Samsung webpage for checking the IMEI.

Users can also place a call at Samsung's call center and check the IMEI there. This webpage is also useful for those who have received their replacement units and wish to double-check that they are indeed safe.

Each phone has a unique IMEI, which stands for International Mobile Equipment Identity and is used for identifying smartphones. Galaxy Note 7 owners should power down their devices and return them, to avoid any other incidents.

Just a few days ago, Samsung was said to be planning to remotely deactivate Galaxy Note 7 units that haven't been replaced until September 30, but the company quickly refuted the rumor.
