Samsung unveiled its latest flagship smartphone, the Galaxy Note 7 earlier this month and the device has been subjected to a number of drop tests with various results. Now it's time for the phone to undergo speed tests and get compared to other flagships on the market.

Drop tests have revealed that Samsung's Galaxy Note 7 is surely a durable device that doesn't get cracked that easily. However, scratch tests have revealed that the Note 7's display is quite sensitive to scratches and other marks that could be left on its screen.

A new test has the Galaxy Note 7 competing against the iPhone 6s when it comes to the speed for running applications and system processes. The speed test was conducted by Phone Buff, which mentioned that the iPhone 6s beat the Galaxy Note 5, the Nexus 6P, the Galaxy S7 and OnePlus 3 in the past year.

The Galaxy Note 7 subjected to the test comes with Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of RAM, 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution and runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. It took on Apple's one-year old iPhone 6s, which ran a dual-core Apple A9 processor, 2GB of RAM, 1334 x 750 pixel resolution and iOS 9.3.4.

Samsung's Galaxy Note 7 clearly lost this speed test

The first task requires the phones to compete when it comes to system apps, take selfies and move on to opening a game. At this point, the Galaxy Note 7 gained an advantage of a split second, but lost it as the iPhone 6s was faster when it came to opening the second game. The iPhone 6s then went through Photoshop Mix and got to work on Lapse, leaving the Galaxy Note 7 two apps behind.

Phone Buff stated that the iPhone 6s built up one of the biggest leads seen in speed tests conducted by the team, with four tasks ahead of the Galaxy Note 7. The iPhone 6s managed to finish the first lap with the time of 1 minute and 21 seconds.

In the end, the iPhone 6s completed the second lap and scored a total time of 1 minute and 51 seconds, while the Galaxy Note 7 finished with a total time of 2 minutes and 49 seconds, making it quite a disappointing loss for Samsung in this speed test.
