An updated flavor of gMaps, the unofficial Google Maps client for Windows Phone devices, is now available for download through the Windows Phone store, namely version 3.0.0.0.

The app is compatible with all devices running under Windows Phone 8 (and with those powered by Windows Phone 8.1), and boasts most of the features that users would want to find in a Google Maps client.

It includes Street View, My Places, a driver mode, support for compass and for layers (street, satellite, traffic, bike, weather), and the possibility to easily search for places or to share map with friends.

The latest version of the app added some more enhancements to it, such as interface changes for Search and Directions, as well as support for routes with multiple waypoints.

Additionally, the new flavor of the software arrived on devices with various improvements to battery usage and to the overall performance.

On top of that, the software comes with the option to view directions via 3rd party apps, including Waze, Nokia Drive and others. The latest app iteration also arrived on smartphones with a series of enhancements to user interface and overall stability, the available release notes unveil.

The gMaps third-party Google Maps client is available for download through the Windows Phone Store, completely free.
