Microsoft reportedly getting ready to debut the new OS

Update: As some of our readers noticed, some very popular Windows Phone models, among which Lumia 520, are missing from the list. We've reached out to Microsoft for more information and to try to get confirmation that this list is indeed accurate, especially because the company specifically said that all Windows Phone devices would get the upgrade (including Lumia 520). This is likely the list revealing the first wave of devices getting the upgrade. Original story below.

Microsoft is reportedly working on starting the Windows 10 Mobile upgrade for Windows Phone devices sometime this week, and although there’s no confirmation that this information is correct, it’s no surprise that everyone in the Windows community really hopes to see this happening.

Redmond previously said that Windows 10 Mobile would be offered to absolutely all Windows Phone devices, no matter their hardware specifications, confirming that, in the case of 512MB models, some features would not be available because of their obvious limitations.

WindowsMania has put together the full list of Windows Phone devices to get the upgrade to Windows 10 Mobile (you can find it in full in the box after the jump), which includes pretty much all Lumia phones released by Microsoft and Nokia. Of course, all their variations will get the Windows 10 Mobile treatment too.

Staged release for Windows 10 Mobile

The Windows 10 Mobile rollout will go live in stages, and there’s word that the Windows Phone flagships Lumia 930 and 1520, as well as the Lumia 640 and 640 XL, are very likely to be part of the first wave getting the upgrade. It’s believed the affordable flagship Lumia 830 could be included here too.

Up until now, there’s been no confirmation that the Windows 10 Mobile upgrade can start this week, and the only target provided by Microsoft is “early 2016,” which means that March could actually be the month to see this happening.

Previously, the company missed several targets, as Windows 10 Mobile was originally planned to go live in December. The deadline was then moved to January and then pushed back once again to February. These release dates, however, have never been confirmed by Microsoft, as the software giant knows that announcing a specific date and then missing it could only lead to more frustration in the Windows community.

With a little luck, Windows 10 Mobile can go live this month, so fingers crossed and check if your device is on the list below.
