fring announced that it has added support for Windows Mobile to its mobile VoIP and instant messaging application. The new edition of fring supports both Windows Mobile 5.0 and 6.0 and is compatible with over 300 phones and Pocket PC devices running Microsoft's operating system.

fring is a free mobile VoIP software that allows users to talk and chat using the handset's Internet connection instead of costly mobile airtime minutes. fring enables free mobile calls over Wi-Fi, GPRS or 3G connections. With the addition of support for Windows Mobile, many Wi-Fi enabled devices that don't have a SIM card can now be used as VoIP phones.

fring lets users communicate with fring, Skype, MSN Messenger, Google Talk, Twitter and regular phone contacts from a single, integrated contact list. In addition, fring supports SkypeOut and hundreds of SIP-based services such as GizmoProject, VoipCheap, VoipStunt, Free World, enabling cheap local and international VoIP calls to contacts' PCs, mobile phones and landline numbers. fring also includes real-time contact availability information so one can see who is available before dialing.

"fring is excited to let Windows Mobile users leverage fully integrated VoIP & multiple IM experience enabling calls, chat and real time presence via their mobile device's internet capabilities, previously only possible on their PC," said Avi Shechter, Co-founder and CEO of fring. "Like all fringsters, Windows Mobile users now have real mobile independence to make VoIP calls at no extra cost with rich presence indicators and hold multiple live chat sessions with their mobile, PC and landline contacts all from one integrated contact list."

The fring application is currently available as a beta and is compatible with Nokia devices running Symbian 8 or 9 and Windows mobile 5.0 and 6.0 devices with 3G/GPRS/Wi-Fi network coverage. Interested users can register for the fring service and download the application here.
