Frances Bean Cobain, the only daughter of Courtney Love and late rocker Kurt Cobain, got married in a super secret ceremony held this weekend. Even though she and fiancé Isaiah Silva had been planning the wedding for over a year, Frances’ mother was not on the guestlist.

Their relationship has been very strained for many years, with Frances leaving home when she was still a teen to live with her grandparents. More recently, the two seem to have mended things a bit - but clearly not enough to have Courtney at the wedding.

Courtney is heartbroken

The first rumors that Frances Bean was engaged to her boyfriend of almost a year, Isaiah, emerged online in 2011, after she started posting all kinds of clues in this sense on social media. Almost complete radio silence followed after, which forced the tabloid media to lose interest in the romance.

This would explain how Frances managed to put together the wedding without having a peep about it leak in the press. Then again, she was never your average celebrity kid, in the sense that she would rather she kept more to herself than be out there with the other so-called trust fund kids.

E! News confirms that the wedding took place this weekend and that Love wasn’t there. Sources familiar with the situation say that the rocker was very disappointed to find out that her own daughter had gotten married without even telling her.

“Courtney loves Isaiah, but was devastated to learn that Frances had gotten married without her knowing,” says one such spy. “Courtney really likes Isaiah and is very happy for Frances. Courtney is sad she wasn’t at the wedding.”

The insider adds that Frances called her mother after the wedding, and everything between the two is cool because Courtney is convinced Isaiah is right for Frances.

Other plans

Because she doesn’t want the world to assume that she wasn’t invited to her own daughter’s wedding, even though that’s what probably happened, the moment word of the wedding got out, Courtney went on Instagram to set the record straight.

She wasn’t at the wedding but not because she wasn’t invited, but because she had someplace else she had to be, she suggests. You can see her statement on the topic in the Instagram post below.
