Nintendo is unwilling to deliver any sort of details about the coming NX platform at the moment, but it seems clearer than ever that the company is planning to deliver both the official reveal and the actual launch of the platform during 2016.

A new report from manufacturer Foxconn is suggesting that the company is expecting to see solid growth during the second quarter of the year because it will have to produce a lot of iPhone 7 smartphones and the new gaming device.

The report has been translated on NeoGAF, and it's pretty clear that the company is aiming to manufacture the NX in 2016, but more clear details about the process and its expectations might appear as the translation is refined.

Some rumors about the launch date of the new Nintendo platform are saying that the official announcement will come during the early summer, and the device will be offered in stores less than three months later.

Others are saying that there are plans to have a release date during the autumn, to capture the attention of potential customers during the all-crucial Christmas shopping season.

Regardless, information that Nintendo has offered to its investors suggests that the plan is to move as many as 12 million units before the end of the fiscal year, which takes place in March 2017.

A new Zelda might power the launch of the NX

Nintendo has just announced a number of new titles that are coming to the Wii U home console and the 3DS handheld during the year, including updates for already successful titles like Super Mario Maker and Splatoon.

Conspicuously absent from the video reveal that took place this week was any information on the new Zelda video game, which was first revealed in 2013 and was supposed to be delivered to gamers before the end of last year.

Many gamers believe that the NX needs a solid slate of launch titles to become a success and that the first high-definition entry in the massive franchise would be a perfect fit because it appeals to a wide range of players.

Nintendo is also apparently ready to launch a big partnership with Electronic Arts to make sure that it has access to some big series like Battlefield and the coming Star Wars title for its next platform.

Some development kits for the NX are also rumored to be in the hands of a number of independent developers.
