A new flavor of foursquare for BlackBerry is now available for download via the BlackBerry App World, with a brand new, appealing feature into the mix, namely a notification tray.

When clocking on the ‘foursquare’ logo in the application, users will be able to access the notification tray, which was designed to keep track of various things.

For example, it will alert users “when a Facebook friend joins foursquare so you can start exploring with them, or letting you know when you and your buddy both have the same place on your To-Do List (serendipity!).”

The new flavor of the application will also offer users the possibility to view all that is happening with their friends in a single, organized place.

The new feature was already made available for the owners of Android and iPhone devices, and it proved a success, it seems.

With the new notification tray in foursquare for BlackBerry, users will be informed when:

- a friend comments on one of your check-ins; - there are new comments or photos on a check-in you’ve commented on; - your friend does one of the Tips you’ve left; - you and a friend both have the same place on your To-Do List; - there’s a special deal at a place on your To-Do List; - a place you’re at starts swarming; - one of your Facebook friends joins foursquare (worlds colliding!); and, - you’re ousted as Mayor (boo!).

In addition to this, the new flavor of the application arrives on devices with some other updates as well, including enhanced setting and account management, offering better ways to manage settings, password, and 3rd party apps.

At the same time, the application arrives with various improvements to the GPS and location support, and with various other fixes and improvements as well. The new flavor of foursquare for BlackBerry also comes to devices with a new app icon.
