Michael Cornelison or Kornelix, the developer of the Fotoxx open source image editor application for GNU/Linux operating systems, has proudly announced the release of the first Fotoxx version for 2016.

According to the release notes, which we've attached at the end of the article for reference, Fotoxx 16.01 improves the Edit Any Metadata and Batch Add/Change Metadata feature by adding a better user interface, which lets you use a mouse device to select metadata items, and implements a manual alignment option to the Panorama feature, supporting images with no clear features in the overlap area.

Support for adding an overlay image to output images has been added to the Batch Convert component, the user interface of the Slide Show has been improved, the Search Images functionality has gained a new option that supports text data matching for both case-sensitive and case-insensitive characters, and a new function has been added for modifying the color saturation.

Additionally, Fotoxx 16.01 adds a new user option that lets you sort the gallery by file name, photo date or file mod date. Non-matching images will no longer appear when searching images for metadata, the "Image Right-Shift" function has been transformed into a user option, and a crash that occurred when selecting the "extend to corner" option in the Select Area has been fixed.

Fotoxx 16.01.1 out now

Today, January 6, 2016, Kornelix has released a hotfix for the Fotoxx 16.01 application, improving the search of images functionality when using a keyword, which apparently failed to work as expected for tags that contained an uppercase letter. Moreover, the developer updated the Catalan, Spanish and Italian language translations.

More details about the changes implemented in the Fotoxx 16.01 and Fotoxx 16.01.1 application can be found in the changelog attached below or on the project's website. In the meantime, you can download the binary and source packages of Fotoxx 16.01.1 right now from Softpedia.
