Players can choose less violent AI for their competitors

Forza Motorsport 6, the next entry in the series from Turn 10 Studios, supports the Drivatars made by players of previous titles like Forza 5 or Horizon 2. However, after fan feedback, players will be able to turn off their "jerk" nature by making them drive less violently.

Forza Motorsport 5 launched right alongside the Xbox One back in November of 2013, and developer Turn 10 Studios brought forth a lot of interesting mechanics, including the Drivatar one. This special AI system learned the driving behavior of the player and was then used by the game as AI for cars in the races of their friends.

Forza Horizon 2, last year's entry in the series, also brought back the mechanic, allowing Drivatars to populate the game's open world.

Forza Motorsport 6 brings back Drivatar alongside new features

Forza Motorsport 6 was already confirmed to also bring back the Drivatar system, as apparently, the AI mechanic managed to learn the new physics system in Forza 6 in just a day, according to Turn 10 boss Dan Greenawalt, who talks with GameReactor.

Since then, the studio has been working with Drivatars from Forza 5 and Horizon 2, although it's added some new options, including a long-awaited one that allows players to make the Drivatars drive less violently. Those who prefer their AI more aggressive can leave it unchanged.

"As soon as we got the new physics system working in Forza 6, we plugged the older Drivatars in - they instantly learnt how to drive the cars that day. We now have a toggle, an option to make them more professional. You still get all their humanity, but they won't drive like jerks. You don't have to turn that on - its Forza, you have a choice," he says.

Forza Motorsport 6 is set to debut exclusively for the Xbox One on September 15, all around the world. You can bet that more Drivatar details will appear until then, probably at Gamescom 2015 in August.
