Forza Motorsport 6 features a fresh mechanic in the form of Mods, which are similar to the Skulls from Halo titles, as they modify the difficulty of a race in exchange for better rewards. From having less power than usual, to completing specific tasks, the mods are varied and promote replayability.

Forza Motorsport 6 is the next major entry in the Xbox exclusive racing experience and developer Turn 10 Studios has shared plenty of different details in recent months, discussing the mechanics, the cars, the environments, and the many other things included in the game.

Mods add variety and challenge to Forza 6

Now, Turn 10 explains on its website just how the all-new Mods system works and how it will promote replayability by offering novel challenges.

Similar to the Skulls system in Halo games, players unlock Mods while enjoying the game and they can be applied to Career or Free Play races. They won't be available in multiplayer, League, or Rivals events.

The Mods have different categories, starting with Dare, which revolve around imposing certain restrictions, like decreased power, starting on the last spot, or using a manual transmission. In exchange for using them, players get more credits at the end of the race.

There are also Boost Mods that give bonus credits to achieving certain feats, like perfect drafts, clean laps, and other such things.

Last but not least, the Crew Mods let players gain advantages for a specific race, although they don't have any bonus rewards for selecting them.

Turn 10 confirms that Mods will also have rarity levels and the most elusive ones bring the best rewards but also the toughest challenges.

Forza Motorsport 6 also brings a revamped prize spinner, which gives players the chance to unlock bonus credits, cards, or Mods at each level up.

Forza Motorsport 6 launches on September 15, in North America, and September 18, in Europe, exclusively for the Xbox One.
