The developer of foobar2000 did not take long to bring version 1.2.3 of the application to a stable release.

After the FLAC encoding improvements added in the third beta for this revision, the developer included a work-around for an incompatibility with some very old Vorbis files.

Among the FLAC decoding enhancements, there is a work-around for certain broken files that generated loud glitches and SSE optimizations to counter slowdown of said fix.

In the first beta release for this build, the FFMpeg code had been updated to version 1.1.1. Also, the “Downmix 5.1 to stereo” DSP had been tweaked to accept more different channel masks.

In Foobar2000 1.2.3, the DLLs for the FFmpeg component have unique names. This has been done in order to avoid collisions with certain other programs.

foobar2000 is available for download from this link; during installation you can choose to make it portable.
