Ringo de Kroon, the maintainer of the Manjaro Linux Cinnamon and Manjaro Linux MATE computer operating systems, has had the great pleasure of announcing the immediate availability for download of the first RC (Release Candidate) build of the upcoming Manjaro Linux MATE 15.12 distribution.

According to Mr. Ringo de Kroon, the Manjaro Linux MATE 15.12 Release Candidate 1 build is based on the recently released Manjaro Linux 15.12 "Capella" RC1 operating system, which was announced at the beginning of the week by Mr. Philip Müller, the creator of the Manjaro project.

"Here I present my Manjaro Mate-Desktop ISO for the 15.12 cycle. Have worked a bit on this one, and I hope you will like it. If it's an improvement, you never know, but versus the older Manjaro Mate 15.09 ISO is a bit of a difference," said Ringo de Kroon. "This is the first RC, and I hope the ISO is stable."

The MATE desktop environment has been updated to version 1.12

One of the most important things implemented in the first Release Candidate build of Manjaro Linux MATE 15.12 (Capella) is the MATE 1.12 desktop environment, which ships with numerous new features and improvements. Additionally, the Vertex desktop and icon themes have been enhanced, along with the MATE Menu.

The configuration of the system has suffered numerous modifications, and it appears to be completely different from the one provided in the current stable release of the OS. The MATE Panel now uses the Manjaro layout, which makes it a bit more stable, and some override theming files are provided in Manjaro Mate Desktop Settings.

Among the applications included in Manjaro Linux MATE 15.12 RC1, we can mention the latest development version of the Calamares graphical installer, the Linux kernel 4.1 LTS packages, the LibreOffice Still office suite, as well as Pragha music player, VLC Media Player, Mozilla Firefox web browser, and Mozilla Thunderbird email and news client.
