KDE had the great pleasure of announcing a few minutes ago, on September 15, 2015, that the first point release of the KDE Applications 15.08 software collection for their modern and powerful KDE Plasma 5 desktop environment is available for download.

According to the brief release announcement, KDE Applications 15.08.1 is here to fix over 40 issues that have been reported by users since the previous version of the project, as well as to update several language translations and add multiple under-the-hood improvements.

KDE Applications 15.08.1 introduces all sorts of improvements to many of its core components and applications, including the KDE libraries, KDE PIM suite, Kdenlive video editor, Dolphin file manager, Konsole terminal emulator, Umbrello IDE, Ark archive manager, Marble virtual globe and world atlas, as well as Kompare diff/patch frontend.

"Today KDE released the first stability update for KDE Applications 15.08. This release contains only bugfixes and translation updates, providing a safe and pleasant update for everyone," reads the announcement. "This release also includes Long Term Support version of KDE Development Platform 4.14.12."

The long-term supported KDE Development Platform 4.14 has been updated as well, to version 4.14.12. As expected, KDE urges all users of KDE Applications 15.08 to update to version 15.08.1 as soon as possible, or more precisely, as soon as the packages arrive in the default software repositories of their GNU/Linux operating systems.
