Charlie Hunnam dropped out of the “Fifty Shades of Grey” franchise, but it all turned out for the better: he’s getting his own major film franchise even in the eventuality that the second “Pacific Rim” movie doesn’t perform well, whenever it comes out.

Hunnam, who was most recently seen on the TV series “Sons of Anarchy,” will be playing King Arthur in the 2016 release “Knights of the Round Table: King Arthur,” which is directed by Guy Ritchie.

There are plans to turn the story into a franchise, but the future of said franchise is entirely dependent on the first film’s box office gross. For the time being, we have only one movie to look forward to, and Hunnam promises it will be worth the wait.

This week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly brings the first official look at Hunnam in character, with a gorgeous (but not too revealing) spread you will find in the gallery below.

In the excerpts from the accompanying interview released so far, Hunnam says that most good guys in film are “boring,” in the sense that they don’t make a compelling watch. His Arthur won’t be that.

“[He’s a little bit rough around the edges, but he’s basically a survivor. He’s a hustler. He’s a street kid. There’s definitely a harder edge to him than people would imagine. It’s sort of classic Guy Ritchie stuff,” Hunnam explains.

He does like most of his characters to be “street kids,” doesn’t he?
