It’s still in beta, so you'd better know what you’re doing

If you’re using an iPhone 7 and haven’t yet updated to iOS 10.2, here’s some pretty big news for you. The first iPhone jailbreak is now available for download, and it can unlock devices running iOS 10.1.1.

Luca Todesco, who has a pretty good track on iPhone jailbreaks, has teamed up with Ian Beer to create Yalu, the very first iPhone 7 jailbreak tool that’s currently available in beta. This means that although it’s supposed to work, you'd better stay away from it if you don’t know exactly what you’re doing, as it might actually brick your device beyond the point where a newbie knows how to repair it.

Although it’s the first jailbreak for the iPhone 7, it also works on iPhone 6s and iPad Pro, but all must be running iOS 10.1.1.

Support for more devices coming in future updates

And the best thing of all is that it comes with a pretty easy-to-use system that only requires you to transfer the jailbreak tool on your iPhone and then run it from the device. The jailbreak is available as an IPA file that requires iTunes on a Mac or PC to install on an iPhone. Once it’s installed on an iPhone, simply launch it just like any other app and let it do its magic.

It goes without saying that backups and things like that aren’t only recommended, but mandatory, especially given the fact that this jailbreak tool is still in beta.

Luca Todesco makes it very clear that, although the app worked fine on his iPhone 7, there’s a chance that it might break down other iPhones.

“This is likely (nah not really but pretend it is) to f**k your device up forcing you to restore, so better safe than sorry. wait for stable release,” a warning on the website reads. “DO NOT INSTALL UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING.”

The jailbreak creators explain that support for more devices is already planned for future updates, so the other iPhones running 10.1.1 could be able to get the jailbreak soon.
