This is what the new browser will look like in Windows 10

Mozilla has already confirmed that it's working on a Windows 10 version of its well-known browser Firefox and now we have the first screenshots providing us with an early glimpse into what the application could look like very soon when it hits the market.

As you can see for yourselves by clicking the photos in this article, Firefox for Windows 10 looks pretty much the same with the desktop version and that's not at all surprising: Mozilla says that it wants the transition from one Firefox flavor to another to be as smooth as possible, so you shouldn't feel any difference no matter which one you are using.

Familiar UI

There's indeed more space between buttons and some feature slightly refined icons, most likely to make the application better for touch, but overall, Firefox for Windows 10 is almost identical with the desktop version, which already works on Windows 10.

“The design appears familiar because its goal is to provide a smooth transition for Firefox Windows users. We wanted to make sure that Firefox showed up on Windows 10 as a first-cla experience, so we’ve made a lot of subtle tweaks to the look and feel that both sit well in the Windows 10 context and are definitively Firefox. We’re taking visual cues from style changes appearing in Windows 10 and we’re also reducing the overall browser UI footprint to increase space for viewing the Web,” Chad Weiner, director of product management, was quoted as saying by VentureBeat.

Just like Microsoft Edge, Firefox for Windows 10 will also come with both a dark and a light theme, so you'll be allowed to choose which one you like more. Of course, it'll support extensions, a feature that Edge will only get later this year, so it'll have a fair advantage for a few months.

Other customization tools, such as themes, will also be supported in Firefox for Windows 10, so it's pretty clear that Edge will have to face fierce competition from its rivals, right on its own playground.

Firefox for Windows 10 is likely to arrive in August, but it remains to be seen how this project develops.
