The stable branch of Firefox has been updated

Mozilla has finally released the stable version of Firefox 39 after it delayed the launch for a couple of days. It's not a major release, but it does have a few interesting features and quite a few bug fixes.

Firefox developers were forced to delay the launch of their latest stable version after it has been revealed that it suffered from a malware-related problem that was crashing the system. As you might have guessed, only the Windows version of the browser was affected by this issue, but they couldn't release Firefox for Linux or Mac. Now it seems that they have corrected the issues, and we finally get to try Firefox 39.

Mozilla didn't make a big fuss over the delay, and they were right to do so. This is not a huge update, and regular users will hardly find anything different from Firefox 38, at least on the surface. Some of the already present features have been refined, but it's worth pointing out that SafeBrowsing has finally landed on Linux and Mac OS X.

Mozilla is connecting Firefox Hello to social networks

One of the features recently added to Firefox is called Hello, and it's a free messenger that support audio and video communication with any other browsers, including non-Firefox ones, which have WebRTC support. The developers have now implemented a way of sharing Hello links via social networks, and it looks like they are putting a lot of effort into this service.

Also, the support for ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) has been improved, the SafeBrowsing malware detection lookups has been made available for Linux and Mac OS X (malware warning), Unicode 8.0 skin tone emoji are now supported, CSS Scroll Snap Points support has been added, an issue with incomplete downloads on HTTP1.1 has been fixed, a regression that could lead to Flash not displaying has been fixed, and a number of security issues have been resolved.

As usual, you can download Firefox 39 for Linux, Windows, and Mac OS X from Softpedia.
