Officers can’t find the iPhone inside the station

There are many cases when human power can’t simply pick up from where technology has left off, and such an example took place recently in the United Kingdom.

30-year-old Thomas Holdroyd says he lost his iPhone 8 on a night out, so he used Find My iPhone from his personal computer in an attempt to track down the device.

Surprisingly, Find My iPhone located the lost device in a police station in Ilford, UK, which in most cases is good news because recovering it from law enforcement should be way easier than getting an iPhone back from a thief. But in this case, the problem was far from being solved.

iPhone not found

As Holdroyd explained for the Daily Mail, the police can’t find the lost iPhone inside the station, despite the tracking app clearly showing that the device is somewhere inside.

“On my first visit, I spoke to the desk sergeant and he had a look for it. He showed me two phones but neither of them were mine. He said that couldn't do anything more and that I should return on Monday as the property office is only open during the week.  When I returned, this officer was a lot more helpful. He did a lot more looking for me but still couldn't find it. He said that a phone had been handed in that just had the description of iPhone but he couldn't find it,” the man explains.

The man jokes that he’s ready to break into the police station to find his iPhone, but in the meantime, his only option is to wait until the officers do trace the device.

The police promised to call the man when the iPhone is found, probably if they don’t lose their phones as well. Holdroyd says he hasn’t heard from the officers in a while, so that’s not really out of the question.
