Square Enix is finally confirming that it will launch Final Fantasy XV on September 30, but for truly dedicated fans of the universe, the company has announced two other major media products that will expand the franchise and will offer more details about the lore that powers it.

Brotherhood: Final Fantasy is an anime series that is designed to explore the background of the four main characters and is set to be delivered for free online, with five episodes coming before the video game itself.

The first full episode is now live, and gamers can get an idea about the core ideas of the series via the trailer embedded below, although it is unclear whether Square Enix is planning to continue with a second season of the anime after Final Fantasy XV is launched.

The free series is accompanied by a feature-length computer generated movie that's called Kingsglaive, which has been in development for no less than three years and will be offered all over the world before the launch of the video game.

The main characters are Luna and Regis, and the narrative takes place during Final Fantasy XV, with Luna Freya voiced by Lena Headey, best known for her work in Game of Thrones, while Regis is portrayed by her co-star Sean Bean.

There are other familiar faces from the video game that will make an appearance, and Square Enix adds that Aaron Paul plays an important role as a Glaive.

Directorial duties will be handled by Takeshi Nozue, who was a co-director on Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children.

Final Fantasy XV will expand the limits of the JPRG genre

The game has been in development since 2006, when it was first introduced as part of the Final Fantasy XIII family using a different name, but Square Enix has sought to expand its scope and make it the kind of experience that can draw in new fans.

Anyone who is interested in Final Fantasy can get the 4.5 GB Platinum Demo on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4, which features a combat sequence and some driving action and content that will not be part of the main game.

Square Enix has also announced that it is working with Audio to make the R8 seen in the video game a reality, although there are no plans to sell the car.

Final Fantasy XV will feature a deep narrative and a new active combat system that will encourage players to remain focused on the action while giving them extra options.
