Square Enix is already about 60 percent done with the development process for Final Fantasy XV, but the team involved with the Japanese role-playing game is still looking for new technology that can be used to improve presentation and gameplay.

Hajime Tabata, the director of the project, tells IGN that he is exploring a potential collaboration with the Avalanche Studios because it is impressed with the things it is adding to the coming Just Cause 3.

The developer adds, "What we’re going to be talking about is possibly being able to use their really unique, really high level amazing technology they have in their studio and using it as an add-on to enhance the quality of a certain specific part of our Final Fantasy XV game. We really think something very special may be coming out of that."

Tabata did not offer more specific information about the elements of Final Fantasy XV that can be expanded with help from Avalanche, but the studio is interested in verticality and in the way characters explore it.

Apparently, the developer believes that his studio also has some elements that might improve the Just Cause 3 experience.

Final Fantasy XV aims to revolutionize the series

The focus of the two titles that are aiming to exchange technology is very different, but it will be interesting to see how they might influence each other.

Final Fantasy XV will deliver an epic story that focuses on a new world that shares some basic elements with modern day Earth but also includes magic and a feudal structure.

Square Enix is also promising a new battle system that will give gamers more options when taking out enemies.

Just Cause 3 is an open-world experience focused on the player’s freedom to use the engine and some cool gadgets to create as much chaos as possible as they try to find innovative ways to take out opponents.

Final Fantasy XV will be launched on the PlayStation 4 from Sony and the Xbox One at some point during 2016.

Just Cause 3 will be offered on the same two home consoles and on the PC on December 1 of this year.
