The development team at EA Sports is finishing up its player ratings reveal and the best footballer included in the simulation is Lionel Messi, the biggest star of Barcelona, who has managed to get an improvement of 1 to his abilities since last year.

This creates a nice synergy for the company, who has recruited the footballer to appear on the official cover and to promote the simulation.

According to the official site, the rest of the top ten includes:

2. Cristiano Ronaldo - Real Madrid 3. Luis Suarez - Barcelona 4. Manuel Neuer - Bayern Munchen 5. Arjen Robben - Bayern Munchen 6. Eden Hazard - Chelsea 7. Zlatan Ibrahimovic - Paris Saint-Germain 8. Neymar - Barcelona 9. Thiago Silva - Paris Saint-Germain 10. David Silva - Manchester City

A lot of fans of the game will spend a lot of time from now on debating whether Lionel Messi is truly better than Cristiano Ronaldo and whether any other players are over- or under-rated.

FIFA 16 is all about the beautiful game

It is hard for a video game series that delivers annual installments to offer something new each time and for the new football sim EA Sports is promising some incremental improvements but no revolutionary new features.

For the ever-increasingly popular Ultimate Team experience, the studio is adding Draft, a shorter mode that relies on some semi-random elements.

Gamers can choose a captain and team formation before filling the rest of their squad with players, trying to create the best possible synergies between them before they take on four match tournaments that can generate some solid rewards.

The core mechanics of FIFA 16 include a redesign of defense duties to make it easier for an entire team to stop offensive moves, midfielders that can create more direct passes and attackers with more options when they are in front of a goal.

Lionel Messi has also inspired a new no-touch dribbling move that will be offered for all the players who have the required skill level.

FIFA 16 will be out on the PC, the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4 and older home consoles, with a limited set of Legacy features, and will be offered on September 22 in North America and two days later in Europe.
