14 DAY TRIAL // Video game developer EA Sports is announcing that it is introducing a new Draft mode to the Ultimate Team experience in the upcoming FIFA 16, allowing gamers to try out a variety of formations and player choices as they go head to head with a friend.
The official announcement explains that first gamers will have to pick from five team layouts chosen at random by the game, and they will then be able to decide which one of five major football stars will be their captain for the day.
Then, a 23-man squad needs to be chosen in Ultimate Team Draft, with each position offering five possibilities that are drawn at random.
EA Sports states, "You’ll be faced with interesting team building challenges: do you grab the best highest rated player in that position or focus on maximizing team Chemistry? Try different combinations to see what works best for you. After selecting your starting XI, Bench, and Reserves you can then move players around to improve your Chemistry rating."
Apparently, the in-form players and the Legends offered on the Xbox One and the 360 will be present in Draft, offering variety from week to week.
EA Sports is offering tournaments linked to the new mode
Once the selection process is done, gamers will play a four-match series, with victories offering access to rewards that include FIFA 16 coins, more player packs, and other items.
To get into an Ultimate Team Draft series, gamers will have to pay 15,000 coins, 300 FIFA Points, or 1 Draft Token, which can be found in packs.
It seems that EA Sports is keen to make it easier for players to get into Ultimate Team, and the new mechanics will make sure that even gamers who are not interested in playing in long-term online leagues have a chance to have fun with matches and earn some cool rewards.
The new football game is also introducing tweaks to the core mechanics, with a focus on realism, and more pieces of information are set to come before Gamescom is done.
FIFA 16 will be out on September 22 on the PC, the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4 and older consoles in North America and two days later in Europe.
