14 DAY TRIAL // Peter Robinson of Fedora Project announced the release and general availability of the Fedora 24 Beta operating system for AArch64 (ARM 64-bit) and POWER instruction set architectures.
The announcement for the release of Fedora 24 Beta for the AArch64 and POWER architectures comes hot on the heels of Fedora Project's initial story on the availability of the Fedora 24 Beta operating system, unveiled to users on May 10, 2016, after being delayed three times for various reasons.
Of course, we're talking about the Server edition of Fedora 24 Beta, which users can now download and install on computers powered by ARM64 (AArch64), PPC64 (PowerPC 64-bit) or PPC64el (PowerPC 64-bit Little Endian) processors, in addition to the standard 64-bit and 32-bit builds.
"The Fedora 24 Beta for aarch64 is here, on schedule for our planned June final release. For Beta we have added Cloud and Docker base images," said Peter Robinson on behalf of the Red Hat release engineering team. "The Beta release contains all the exciting features of Fedora 24's editions in a form that anyone can help test."
Final Fedora 24 release ships June 14
In addition to the Fedora 24 Beta Server edition for AArch64 (ARM 64-bit) and POWER (PPC64 or PPC64el) hardware architectures, users will also be able to download the Cloud and Docker base images of the upcoming operating system. However, please try to keep in mind that these are early development snapshot, which means that they might contain bugs and aren't suitable for production use.
Now that the development cycle of the long anticipated Fedora 24 Linux operating system is coming to an end, with the Final Freeze stage knocking at the door (in effect starting May 31), one can only wait for the final Fedora 24 release to hit the streets, which should happen on June 14, 2016, of course, assuming that no unforeseeable delays occur.
