Fedora Project's Peter Robinson announced on March 31, 2016, the release and immediate availability for download of the Fedora 24 Alpha operating system for POWER and AArch64 hardware architectures.

After being delayed a few times, the Alpha of the upcoming Fedora 24 Linux operating system, due for release on June 7, 2016, saw the light of day on March 29, distributed with the usual Workstation, Server, Cloud, Spins (KDE, Xfce, LXDE), and Lab editions, for 64-bit, 32-bit, and ARM hardware architectures.

As usual, the team responsible for the AArch64 and POWER hardware architectures ports the new release of Fedora Linux to the aforementioned platforms a few days later, and so you can now download and install the Fedora 24 Alpha operating system on your computers powered by ARM64, PPC64 or PPC64el processors.

"The Fedora 24 Alpha for POWER is here, right on schedule for our planned June final release. Download the prerelease from our Get Fedora site," said Peter Robinson on behalf of the Red Hat release engineering team. "The Alpha release contains all the features of Fedora 24's editions in a form that anyone can help test."

Fedora 24 Beta arrives May 3, final release lands June 7, 2016

We're giving you the opportunity to download Fedora 24 Alpha Server and Cloud editions for the AArch64 (ARM 64-bit) and POWER (PPC64 or PPC64el) architectures for free right now from our website, but please try to keep in mind that these are early development milestones, not suitable for deployment in production environments.

Assuming that no unforeseeable delays occur, the development cycle of the Fedora 24 Linux operating system will continue with a Beta build, which should be seeded to public beta testers on May 3, and the final release of Fedora 24 on June 7, 2016. More details about Fedora 24 Alpha's new features are available in our initial report.
