14 DAY TRIAL // Earlier today, March 23, 2016, Fedora's Program Manager Jan Kurik announced that the Alpha build of the upcoming Fedora 24 Linux operating system has been approved for landing and will arrive next Tuesday, March 29.
The decision was taken during the second Fedora 24 Alpha Go/No-Go meeting that took place on March 23, where Fedora's QA, Release Engineering and Development teams all agreed to go live with the Fedora 24 Alpha on March 29.
"Fedora 24 Alpha will be publicly available on March 29, 2016. The official release time has been agreed on F24 Alpha Readiness meeting to be 14:00 UTC," said Jan Kurik, Fedora program manager at Red Hat in today's announcement.
For those of you who are not in the loop, we would like to remind you the fact that Fedora 24 Alpha suffered a third, unexpected delay last week due to some critical bugs discovered in the last moment. Originally, the Alpha build was supposed to arrive on March 22, 2016.
The rest of the Fedora 24 release schedule remains untouched, for now
Looking at the official release schedule for the Fedora 24 Linux operating system, we can't help but notice that the dates for the Beta build and final release remain untouched, for now. Users will be able to download and test Fedora 24 Beta, if it's not delayed, on May 3, 2016.
The final release of the Fedora 24 operating system should arrive this summer, on June 7, if everything goes according to plan and no other delays occur. Fedora 24 promises to ship with the recently released GNOME 3.20 desktop environment, as well as Linux kernel 4.5.
