The development team at Ubisoft working on the coming Far Cry Primal is ready to kick off the pre-launch marketing campaign for the open world action title, with two new trailers that offer a look at the characters and the world of the game and an announcement about a PlayStation 4 bundle.

The two videos are introducing the gamers interested in the title to the Stone Age and the unique landscape that the protagonist Takkar will have to navigate as he seeks to make sure that his tribe endures in the long-term and deals with some of the biggest challenges facing humanity.

The second trailer is more focused on the other characters of Far Cry Primal and the way unique languages will be used to communicate with the various communities, with real-world linguists used to create the fictional grammar of the period.

Players who are interested in the new Ubisoft spin-off but do not yet own a home console will be able to pick up a PlayStation 4 bundle that includes a 1 TB hard drive version of the Sony platform painted jet black as well as a controller of the same color and a physical copy of the actual video game.

The bundle for Far Cry Primal will be offered on February 23, the same day that the experience will arrive on the Xbox One although Microsoft has announced no plans for a special package including its home console.

The game is also set to be offered on the PC on March 1 of this year, and Ubisoft says the extra week will give it time to make sure that the experience runs well on a wide variety of hardware.

Far Cry Primal will offer a new take on classic open world mechanics

Ubisoft is offering fans of the franchise a chance to compete in a contest that will offer them a chance to live in a cave, like one of the characters in Primal if they can offer a good reason they would choose to do so.

Gamers can apply on the official site, which reads the location is "An amazing spacious cave with beautiful country views. Feel at home with mother nature in this comforting home. Forest nearby. Open plan space - Lounge, bedroom and kitchen combined in one ingenious space. Minimalist interior design with retro influences."

The new Far Cry continues the series of spin-offs for the core franchise that started with Blood Dragons and takes gamers to a period when neither guns nor vehicles, which are central to its gameplay, were available.

Gamers will have to use melee weapons, including clubs and spears, and bows to keep their enemies at bay, with the list of potential opponents including both saber-tooth tigers and mammoths.

Ubisoft says that Primal will feature a complex day and night cycle that affects gameplay, as well as a lot of interactions with fellow tribe members, who need to be protected from both natural threats and from other aggressive groups.

Players characters can use a pet owl to scout locations and expand their knowledge of the world.
