Prepare to face a crazy preacher and his flock

Ubisoft announced the release of Far Cry 5 for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, its latest iteration of the famous open-world first-person shooter.

Pretty much all of the Far Cry games have been a success for Ubisoft, and there is no reason to think that the fifth one in the series is going to be any different. It’s also the boldest choice made by the developers who chose to use a real country and location this time, in Montana, United States.

Until now, all Far Cry games took place in remote and fictitious locations, but Ubisoft decided that it’s time to bring the action a little bit closer. Not to mention the fact that the main theme for Far Cry 5, which is the rule of a crazy doomsday preacher and his family over an entire county is not all that far-fetched.

It’s a crazy open-world

The Far Cry games have been getting bigger and bigger, but with good reason. In this latest iteration, the map is filled to the brim with content, but what’s interesting about it is that it’s also procedurally generated in most cases.

The open world is full of unscripted events that make it fill more alive and harder for players to adapt to any specific situation. To top it all off, the game can be played in co-op mode from one end to the other, which is a first for the franchise.

Another cool aspect of the game is the integration of the Far Cry Arcade, a powerful map editor that can use assets from other games and franchises such as Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag, Assassin’s Creed Unity, or Watch Dogs, for solo, co-op or competitive experiences.

Furthermore, console players who buy the gold edition of Far Cry 5 (base game, season game, and various bonus content) will get Far Cry 3 Classic Edition as well, on May 29th. On the other hand, PC users will receive the full version of Far Cry 3 on June 26th.

As usual, Far Cry 5 is available on pretty much all available platforms, including the PlayStation Store, Xbox Games Store, Steam, and uPlay.
