Development is coming along nicely, but it still takes time

When Bethesda launched Fallout Shelter only on iOS about two weeks ago, all Android users were outraged because they were skipped from the initial release of the game even though Google's mobile platform has by far the largest market share in the world.

Even though Bethesda confirmed that an Android version of the smash hit is already in the works, Fallout and Android fans alike remained upset at the thought that they have been denied the pleasure of playing one of the best mobile games of the year.

A few days after its successful launch in App Store, Fallout Shelter developers offered an estimate for the Android release of the game and said it might be ready “in a few months.”

Fast forward two weeks and now we have another estimated timeframe release for the Android version of Fallout Shelter.

The first update for Fallout Shelter dropped today

According to Bethesda's Pete Hines, Fallout Shelter might be released on Android in about 6 weeks. Considering the previous estimate claimed the game should be ready “in a few months,” this is very good news for Android users.

Keep in mind though that this is just a rough estimate, and although Hines confirmed that development for Android version of Fallout Shelter is coming along nicely, anything can happen in the next couple of weeks that could delay the game.

Until then though, if you own an iOS device, you can now download Fallout Shelter for iOS for free via App Store. The game should be fully compatible with devices running iOS 7.0 or later.

According to Bethesda, the game requires at least an iPhone 5, iPad 3, or iPad mini 2. It's also worth mentioning that Fallout Shelter comes with in-app purchases, so if you don't plan on spending real money, then you can disable this feature from within the game.
