Recently, Facebook introduced a new tool to help people connect and help each other during natural disasters. The Facebook Safety Check feature could be used for people to donate food, shelter and equipment to those affected by natural disasters.

But this isn’t the only feature the company has been working on, as apparently Facebook is now rolling out a tool that informs users of weather conditions in their location. The feature was integrated into Facebook’s Android and iOS app, but it’s also available on the web version, according to Tech Crunch.

Users can access the feature from the News Feed or the mobile app’s “More” section, which includes areas like Friends, Events, Groups, Pages and Saved content. The Weather section allows users to view a full forecast for the upcoming week, while data is provided by Weather.com.

Around 95% of all Facebook users have received the new feature

Facebook has been displaying weather “greetings” for quite a while now, but the new feature gives users more flexibility and more information. A few years ago, Facebook added forecasts to events and public places, and it has been testing weather updates in News Feeds in the UK.

The Weather section displays information like temperatures for upcoming days, weather conditions and a banner image at the top, based on what the forecast will be. Users can change their current location and add many more cities to the list, but the forecast will be displayed for just one at a time.

Moreover, they can pick from the two temperature units, Celsius or Fahrenheit. Needless to say, the forecast is displayed only after users enable location services. The weather greetings message is displayed at the top of the News Feed when users open the app in the morning and it can be noticed on the mobile version of Facebook, as well as on a desktop. Facebook also offers an option to adjust notifications for weather reports and all the updates for the new section will be made available by the end of the month.
