It's not a secret that Microsoft really struggled to convince developers to bring their apps on Windows 8 and Windows Phone, but it turns out that with the arrival of Windows 10, that's all about to change.

Terry Myerson, head of the Windows division at Microsoft, announced that Facebook is one of the first big companies that will launch universal apps on Windows 10, so adopters of the new operating system should be able to stay in touch with friends and post on their walls directly from their desktops.

“Facebook will be building all new universal Windows apps for Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger,” Myerson announced during the opening keynote today.

Basically, that means that Windows 10 consumers will find all these apps in the store and can access their accounts from the desktop, without the need for turning to third-party apps or load services in the browser.

While this is clearly a pretty good thing, Myerson hasn't provided any timing information, which means that it could take a while until they arrive. It's believed that Facebook apps would arrive together with Windows 10 Mobile, which is expected to debut in early November.

And yet, more devs need to be convinced to code for Windows 10 and key apps are still missing from the platform, such as Snapchat and Google Maps or Gmail. Time will tell if more devs will become interested in Windows 10 though.
