Facebook has just announced that it will start rolling out new features for Messenger users on Android and iOS platforms. The new features will be released in the form of an update that will allow users to find and contact their business on both Facebook and Messenger.

“Messaging a business directly is a fast and convenient way for people to get in touch with questions about products and services, appointments, customer service questions and more. Today, we’re announcing new tools and updates that make this connection even easier, by helping people find and get in touch with the businesses they care about,” states Facebook in a blog post.

The first new feature mentioned by developers is custom profile usernames, which means that people will now be able to identify and contact the businesses they want to connect with much easier, thanks to the Page usernames that will now be brought to the forefront. Each Page now features a unique username that can be set and edited.

Messenger Link and Messenger Greetings seem promising

Facebook also announced that they have introduced Messenger Links, which will allow businesses to make it easier for customers to start a message thread with them. This new feature will use a Page’s username to create a short and easy-to-remember link, which opens a conversation with the business in Messenger when clicked.

Also, the update brings Messenger Codes, which people can scan in Messenger using the camera of the phones to open a thread with a business.

Last but not least, Facebook announced a new feature called Messenger Greetings has been included in the update. This particular feature is meant to improve communication with people in both Messenger and Facebook applications since the greetings can be customized to appear in a new message thread before messages are sent.

The Messenger Greetings can be used by businesses to greet their potential customers and set a more friendly atmosphere while providing people with information on what types of messages are expected. The new feature can be customized in the Page’s Message Settings.
