The two phones rely on the same platform

Meizu made official its new Pro 5 flagship device not so very long ago. The company has also recently announced a re-branding of its identity, which includes a new logo and a brand new line of premium products.

The Meizu Pro 5 is one of those rare phones that take advantage of an Exynos chipset. Samsung might be trying to make a name for itself in the silicon market, but so far, most of its own smartphones are being powered by Exynos chips. Like the Galaxy S6, which runs on an Exynos 7420 high-end SoC.

Well, the Meizu Pro 5 flagship also takes advantage of this platform, nestled inside its metal body. So should we expect the Pro 5's performance to be on par with the Galaxy S6?

According to benchmark results provided by the Chinese company, the Exynos 7420 inside their Pro 5 flagship is performing better than in the Galaxy S6. Probably Meizu introduced some optimizations, but we’re not given any specific details on the matter.

We also have to keep in mind that the Galaxy S6 sustains a 2K display, while the Pro 5 only boasts 1080p resolution.

The Exynos 7420 is a good fit for the Meizu Pro 5

For example, in AnTuTu, the new Meizu flagship apparently scored 77768 points, while the Samsung Galaxy S6 only managed to snatch 68944 points instead. Moving along, in the Geekbench multi-core test, the Galaxy S6 grabbed 5058, while the Pro 5 scored a better 5593.

In case you missed the scoop on the brand new Meizu Pro 5, we’re taking an opportunity to remind you why you should be excited about this new flagship coming out of China.

The phone makes a debut with a phablet-like 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display with 1080p resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels) and a 2.5D curved glass. On the imaging front, the phone makes use of an advanced 21MP camera with Sony IMX230 sensor, which features 1/2.4 inches in size. The selfie shooter is of a decent 5MP variety.

Working hand in hand with the Eyxnos 7420 chipset, we have either 3GB or 4GB of RAM plus 32GB or 64GB of internal storage. If the built-in storage being offered is not enough for you, you can always choose to expand it because a microSD card slot is available.

It’s important to note that the new Pro 5 model takes advantage of Meizu’s own mCharge, which is basically the company’s fast charging technology that allows users to juice up the device from 0 to 65% in just 30 minutes. The phone also boasts a USB Type-C port.
