As part of today's GNOME 3.19.4 desktop environment, a development build towards the upcoming GNOME 3.20 release, we've spotted an update to the Evolution email, calendar and groupware client.

Evolution is used by default in numerous GNU/Linux distributions based on the GNOME Stack, and we have to admit that it is a pretty decent email client. Evolution 3.19.4 has been released as part of the GNOME 3.19.4 milestone, fixing various bugs reported by users since the previous maintenance build.

According to the internal changelog, attached below for reference, Evolution 3.19.4 updates the mail operations due to a change in the libcamel library, includes the libical/vcc.h library directly for the calendar component, adds support for hiding the Switcher buttons, and makes it possible to open a new window from the overview.

Furthermore, the threading is no longer lost when pressing the Enter key on a quoted text, and a bug that made an entire paragraph to be linkified when attempting to paste a plain text paragraph that starts with a URL has been resolved in the fourth development milestone towards Evolution 3.20.

EHTMLEditorView improvements, updated translations

In addition to the changes mentioned above, Evolution 3.19.4 comes with multiple improvements to the EHTMLEditorView component, adds a better workaround for the "GtkApplication instance leaks on exit due to GtkActionMuxer" bug, adds metainfo.xml files for the pst-import plugin, as well as "Message -> Mailing List -> Copy Message Archive URL" for the Archived-At header.

Last but not least, several language translations have been updated in this new development release of the upcoming Evolution 3.20 email, calendar and groupware client, among which we can mention Italian, Latvian, Czech, Turkish, German, Lithuanian, Catalan, and Norwegian Bokmal. Download the Evolution 3.19.4 sources right now from Softpedia. However, keep in mind that this is a pre-release version, not suitable for production use.
