Apple could launch new iPhone SE at WWDC

The second-generation iPhone SE was expected to launch in the first half of 2018, and now new evidence seems to indicate that this new model is just around the corner.

While Apple has remained completely tight-lipped on the new model, the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) is now listing new iPhones that are believed to be part of the revamped iPhone SE lineup.

EEC regulatory fillings typically display new models one or two months ahead of their launch, as noted by CultofMac, which means that there’s a chance the debut could take place in May or in June.

On the other hand, it makes sense for Apple to take the wraps off the new iPhone SE at the WWDC event in early June, and today’s findings seem to indicate this could really be the case.

The second-generation iPhone SE is likely to stick with a 4-inch display, which means it would remain the smallest iPhone model in Apple’s lineup. There’ve been rumors claiming that Cupertino could go for a 4.2-inch display for this new series, but people close to the matter suggested a 4-inch screen is the choice that the company is expected to embrace for 2018 as well.

The processor will most likely be upgraded from the old A9 to at least A10, and iOS 11 will be the operating system powering the device.

Rumor had it that the new iPhone SE was projected to come with a glass body allowing for wireless charging, but again, this won’t be the case as Apple wants to keep the price of the phone as low as possible.

Of course, this is just speculation on our side for now, and it remains to be seen when the new iPhone SE goes live, though at this point it looks like the unveiling is more or less imminent.
