Adoption of the new OS improving significantly in Europe

Microsoft hasn’t updated its Windows 10 adoption figures since May this year, but research firms across the world indicate that adoption of the new operating system is improving substantially these days, especially because the enterprise market is starting the migration as well.

Data provided by Context, which uses information collected  from European distributors, indicates that Windows 10 is growing on the Old Continent and is already more successful than its predecessors - and we all know that this is quite a huge achievement given that Microsoft’s priority was to upgrade Windows 7 users before EOS is reached in January 2020.

ComputerWeekly writes that Windows 10 now accounts for a quarter of all business PC sold, and these numbers are on the rise as more companies complete the piloting stage of the new operating system and are getting ready to start the transition to the new OS for their PCs.

Windows 10 improved significantly in the last few months and posted a substantial increase from 16 percent in June to 18 percent in July and eventually reached 24 percent in August.

Continued growth by the end of the year

Context expects the transition to Windows 10 to continue in the coming months, and European companies are likely to be pioneers of this mass migration to the new OS.

“Industry expectations have European Windows 10 business spending picking up further towards the end of the current year”, said Marie-Christine Pygott, senior analyst at Context. “This will help to drive a modest improvement in the overall second half 2016 PC sales, compared to that seen in the first half of the year,”

Individual data for European markets shows that France is the top company in terms of Windows 10 adoption with a share of 38 percent, followed by Spain with 28 percent and Sweden with 24 percent. Germany, Switzerland, and Poland are also above the 20 percent milestone and are expected to continue posting growth in the coming months.
